Research – the pillar of innovation

The local public laboratories and resource centres together form a pillar of research and innovation. They are instrumental to the joint venture projects and provide the input of their skills towards the development of new mobility solutions.

The research laboratories and resource centres

About thirty laboratories have been identified across Alsace and Franche-Comté, whose specialist subjects find resonance with the orientations developed at the Pôle Véhicule du Futur. Sixty research teams work in national research institutes, universities and higher institutes.
These laboratories, 60% of which are directly involved in research projects accredited by the Cluster, employ over 1,300 research workers.

The economic area also features many resource and research centres that relate directly to the special focus areas being developed by the Cluster:

• A national hydrogen and fuel cell technology research centre.
• Six technology centres:

  • CETIM-CERMAT,
  • Holo3,
  • IFTH,
  • Institut Pierre Vernier.
