European project EACN funded

Today, the European Automotive Industry faces several challenges with a strong sectorial impact:

  • Shared mobility with adapted vehicles and the associated digital services,
  • The electric, connected and autonomous vehicle,
  • The need to modernise and digitize production means as well as the supply chain,
  • The entry of new competitors sometimes more interested in the data than in the vehicle itself.
One option to stay competitive is the collaboration with other actors from the automotive value network and to minimise risks and costs, especially in the field of industrial modernisation.

For this reason, the cluster Pôle Véhicule du Futur initiated in 2017 the European Automotive Cluster Network EACN, regrouping currently 9 European partners*.

The EACN project

The project EACN for Joint Industrial Modernisation Investments has been submitted by six partners** of which Pôle Véhicule du Futur and will get a co-funding by the European Union’s COSME programme.

This project aims at initiating and stimulating cooperation between the partner clusters and their members within collaborative R&D or joint investment projects in the field of “Industry 4.0”, or common business and other opportunities which will contribute to their competitiveness. The project started on 16th October 2018 for 24 months, planned actions are workshops, B2B Matchmaking events, proposal development support and others with industry partners from the participating countries.

The project especially focusses on four subjects:

  • (1) Virtualisation for planning processes: simulation, modelling,
  • (2) Robotics and Artificial Intelligence for production processes,
  • (3) Elasticity of production processes in SMEs, and,
  • (4) Future skills and competences.
